Dangerous leads Friday Frequency #009 with the confidence and scale expected from one of Nigeria’s biggest contemporary Afrobeats artists. It is joined by Heaven Baby, her international collaboration with ZAYN, giving this week’s selection two very different sides of the same roll-out.

New Music Friday Finds Strength in Nigeria’s New Wave

Kunmie earns two spots with 5AM, featuring Phyno, and 22, showcasing the rising artist from two different angles. The Phyno collaboration brings additional weight to the former, while the latter gives Kunmie space to stand entirely on his own.

Bella Shmurda’s Happy Song adds another recognisable voice to the mix, while Bryann’s Jupa and 6uff’s Excellent represent the emerging side of Nigeria’s current Afrobeats movement.

Swayvee and Wizard Chan also make the cut with You’re Mine, another record that rewards the playlist’s commitment to discovering music beyond the most obvious names.

Guchi’s Call Me completes the Nigerian contingent, bringing another melodic perspective to a selection that deliberately avoids becoming a collection of only established superstars.

New Music Friday Gives Ghana a Strong Showing

Ghana makes its presence felt with three records that each bring something different to the playlist.

Kofi Nti, KK Fosu and King Paluta reconnect generations on the Rakia (Remix), pairing established Ghanaian voices with one of the country’s strongest contemporary performers.

Kenya earns one place in this week’s final 15, with Arrow Bwoy’s Pepeta representing the strongest Kenyan selection from the pool.
