Illwill [real name – “William Okafor“] is a dynamic and creative artiste and producer. He ventured into music in the late 90’s [not from his mother’s womb…lol] in a bid to burn creative energy, and has now graduated to become a seasoned eMCee. His talents go beyond lyricism as he is a highly respected producer. He has also perfected the sacred art of audio mixing and mastering which makes him an all-round audio professional. He released his first mix-tape called “The Ill Files” in 2005 which was a collection of songs and beats. In 2007, he teamed up with his friend and classmate “Toby Martins” to release a second mix-tape called “D.I.Y [Do It Yourself]” which produced the widely acclaimed hit “How Your Own Take Be?” He runs “Mixtape Muzik” which is a collection of hip-hop tracks featuring the best of the best Nigerian eMCees. He is one of the members of “The Roots Muvment“, which is a group of progressive artistes, producers, DJs and video directors. “Illwill” is currently working on his long awaited album called “The Goodwill Of Illwill“. The first single from the album called “Let’s Go” was released early this year and it features the rising female rap sensation “Ms. Chief“. The second single called “My Life” will soon be released accompanied by a video which has already been shot. His music can be described as refreshing, creative and insightful as he draws inspiration from artistes like “Wyclef Jean“, “Asa“, “Drake”, “Wande Coal“, “Jay-Z“, “Eminem”, “Linkin Park“, “Dido”, “Mode 9” and “Nas”. He says his objective is to make good music that strikes a chord with every listener.
