Victor Chujor-Idowu, more popularly known as the Nigerian music producer, Beats By Jayy, has passed away at 28; the family has announced that he passed away from health complications due to Covid-19 on November 20, 2021. Jayy, as he was fondly called, is a celebrated Nigerian producer known for his unique soul-sample Hip-Hop instrumentals and has worked with the likes of M.I Abaga, A-Q, Blaqbonez, Illbliss, Naeto C, Loose Kaynon, Cheque, Ice Prince and many others; the last two years saw him deliver some of his best works – he produced critically acclaimed albums like A-Q‘s “God’s Engineering” and “Golden,” M.I Abaga and A-Q‘s “The Live Report,” Loose Kaynon‘s “Survivor’s Remorse” and contributed to Blaqbonez‘s “Sex Over Love.”

Jayy also released his own music under the moniker, Big Daddy Jayy, delivering three projects, “Replay Value,” “Road To Jayynius” and his most recent, “Jayynius.” His humble beginnings started in the suburbs of Surulere, Lagos where he honed his skills in sampling, beat-making, music production and vocal delivery. Respected amongst his peers for his quintessential approach to producing music, Jayy has just started to receive critical acclaim for his works – Jayy is survived by his mother and brother.
