Music is bold, expressive and music is art; the internet revolution has opened more windows of opportunities to this generation of musicians and artistes, to find global audience, through which Africa continues to bless the world and leave her mark.
From the garden city of Port-Harcourt, all the way in the west of Africa and following the giant steps of greats like, Fela Kuti and Angélique Kidjo, shines yet another promising light of a gifted singer/song-writer, whose music can simply be defined as original, cutting across different genres but mostly favouring Choral, Highlife and Jazz – basically Soul music; Jable [real name – Ogranya Jable Osai] is a name artistically coined by his parents, even though it has been subject to a few puns and remixes by both friends and strangers. Young Jable grew up around music, and it’s all thanks to Ozomogo Jason Osai, his father, who Jable says is not just a lover of music, but also plays the guitar and was a part of a music band named Black Stones, back in the 70’s; at the tender age of 10, Jable picked up his pen, and hasn’t dropped it ever since. He dropped his 1st official début single as an independent artiste titled “Pot Of Gold,” while pursuing a degree in Architecture from the Kwame Nkrumah University, Kumasi, Ghana in 2013; “Pot Of Gold” got an overwhelming response from the audience it reached [I listened to “Pot Of Gold” 2 years after it’s release, and I dare to say, “it has a place in the future that outlives the listener”].
Jable is out with brand new material, a unique composition of soulful chants and orchestral music, and he titles it “Voices“; “Voices” is written by the lovely Afua Asiedu, popularly known as Fu [whom he, Jable, describes as one of the most beautiful souls he has ever met] and was produced by one of his mentors and friends, Jude Brossy. His style can only be described as a blend of music from the greatest performers and artistes who ever lived, from Elvis to Sinatra, Rex Lawson to Salif Keita and most recently Asa, Duncan Mighty and his favourite, John Mayer; his beautifully crafted melodies and thought-provoking words would literally leave your soul yearning for more.
I describe Jable’s soul music as one destined for the hall of fame and fated to bless the very soul of this generation and beyond.
An architect by training and a singer/song-writer by calling, Jable is a gentle soul who plays soccer as a hobby and likes to think he’s good at it; expect more material from him as he is working ceaselessly in a bid to perfecting his sound and to inspire a better world and touch lives. | ENJOY!!!
