Following the release of the catching and highly infectious tune back in the month of January, the Young D produced “Sexy Nana” by well-endowed and buxom Janelia has gone on to accrue hits on online platforms, the clubs as well as on radio; we would recall that she put out a “Sexy Nana” dance competition and also dished out the meaning of the song at some point before releasing the “Behind The Scenes” video for the offering. In March, she let out 2 versions of the Afro-Pop single, asking fans and music lovers at large to vote their pick; alas, the Miguel Asua directed/Lex-Ten edited version seem to be the front-runner on this and in her words:

Her music is a beautiful fusion of Soul and Afro-Pop; the daughter of an American father and a Nigerian mother, singer and song-writer, Janelia was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in Nigeria. She brings a unique multi-cultural vibe to Soul music, something she playfully calls “JaneliaSoul“; she is bilingual and enjoys writing songs and singing in both English and Yoruba. Her passion for music began in primary school in Nigeria when she held several lead roles in her school’s musical productions; her professional career began when she moved to the United States to further her studies in the arts. She toured as a back up singer with several national and international acts and then ventured into having her own band. She lives and shuffles between Baltimore, MD USA and Lagos, Nigeria; she continues to make a name for herself on the American, Nigerian, and global music scenes. She performs in clubs, festivals, and other venues all over the United States and Nigeria. Early 2014 sees her independently releasing a single titled “Sexy Nana“; it is currently being broadcast on all the major radio stations in Nigeria. Prior to this, she released “Love Song in Yoruba” and “Omo Oba Remix“; for several weeks, the music video was ranked in the top 10 video countdowns on some of Nigeria’s prominent music stations. It was number 4 on Sound City and number 9 on Africa Independent Television [AIT]; in addition, “Love Song in Yoruba” airs on BET International, it is also being transmitted in over 35 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa which includes African Magic.
She is a multifaceted artiste who is able to move fluidly between genres; “Sexy Nana” has the Contemporary sound of Afrobeats known worldwide as Afro-Pop; as an artiste, she has crossover appeal. She has secured fans for herself not only in the United States and Nigeria, but throughout the globe, this is evident through her current YouTube comments on “Love Song in Yoruba“. Some of her recent performances include the Face List Awards in New York – during this performance, she paid tribute to honoree, Angélique Kidjo, with a soulful acoustic version of “Agolo”; she was also a headliner at Recher Theater in Towson, MD. She has also been the feature opening act for many national acts of various genres; her past performances include Havanna Festival, Artscape, the Detroit World Music Festival and many more, also performing at the Africa Malaria Day Benefit Concert in Washington, DC where she helped raise funds and awareness for Malaria treatment and prevention in Africa.
Her musical influences are as diverse as she is, they include Sade, Mariam Makeba and Fela Kuti; she is currently recording a new album and shooting music videos for her new and upcoming releases. In this new album which is slated to be released in mid 2014, she is expanding her sound as she further explores Afro-Pop while infusing it with her original soulful vibes.
