A lot of us [especially guys] would be familiar with the Mortal Kombat game which we had back then on the SEGA console; no doubt we still remember the fatality moves [← ↓ ← →, ↓ ↓ ← →, → ← ↓ ↓ :D ] used at the end of a fight.
