Real B a.k.a “Sharp Shooter” is undoubtedly no new name on the scene; he’s a talented singer, song-writer and performing art. His talent became evident when he released 2 singles earlier titled “Suicidal” [a club banger] and “U’re Mine” that received massive downloads from various blogs on the internet, as well as airplays from top radio stations. He went ahead to shoot an outstanding video for “U’re Mine“, which is presently enjoying airplay, not to talk of his recently dropped freestyle on Iyanya‘s “Kukere” beat, which is rated the best cover of the song by music professionals.

Real B has been featured alongside some of the biggest artistes in the Southern region in Nigeria’s music industry and has appeared on several mix-tape projects from artistes and prominent DJs like DJ Perez [Ghana-based Nigerian DJ], just to mention a few. Already among the top lists of the next big thing to happen in the Nigeria music industry, “Sharp Shooter” [as he’s also called] is shooting far towards his dreams beyond Africa, as he plans to unleash the unexpected.

AceWorldTEAM courtesy of Shayo Grass caught up with Real B via a bbm chat and they had this quick convo, where he talks about how he came up with his present stage name, alongside his hopes and plans in the nearest future. | ENJOY!!!

Hello, Real B

Real B

Yes boss

Shayo Grass

Lol – first of all, thank you for your time

Real B

Oh yea, the pleasure’s mine

Shayo Grass

Secondly, “Realest Baba” how did you get that name?

Real B

Hmmm. Back then in my hood, people see “REALity” in me, they even called me 2baba in the making, until I stole a certain show; all I could hear them yelling was “Real Baba” continuously. I felt like a star and fell in love with the name since it came from my fans. Had to figure out that the letter “B” is an initial of my name, “Bright” and also to the “Baba” they do call me, and that was it.

Shayo Grass

Wow, interesting; how long has music been a passion of yours?

Real B

Honestly, I’ve tried to figure that out, and I concluded: “I was born with music inside of me“. Music is one part of my body like we, having ribs, kidneys, and liver. It runs in my bloodstream. It’s a force already within me when I saw myself arrive on the scene. It was actually a necessity for me, like food, water, or air.

Shayo Grass

Nice!!! what inspired the confidence for you to launch into it officially?

Real B

I began my career when I joined an acapella group; we went to shows then. It became obvious we were doing great, and noticed I enjoyed doing it [music]; the desire in me inspired it.

Shayo Grass

Mmmm

Real B

Enjoy*

Shayo Grass

So, how did you get noticed?

Real B

Hmmmm, it’s not been easy. I did jingles for FM stations to buy them into promoting my songs on air; I went 2 a lot of free shows, mingled with a lot of DJs, and I won’t deny the fact that our social networks [Twitter and Facebook] helped a lot too. Thumbs up to ’em bloggers.

Shayo Grass

I know what you mean. What inspired “Suicidal” and “U’re Mine“?

Real B – Suicidal

Real B

Wooooops!! “Suicidal” – I needed to do a club banging track for my fans, then I chose to talk about ’em ladies [hot ones] we do meet in these big clubs, what they do to hommies [they show no love]; in “U’re Mine“, I tried to bring in a different concept of our everyday tunes in Nigeria, so I spiced it up with some South-African rhythms.

Shayo Grass

What are your special hobbies apart from music?

Download Video to Mobile Device

Real B

Ok o, I be free guy o; nothing much… I enjoy balling, hanging out with REAL peeps, my Playstation game is not too far from me too *laughs*

Shayo Grass

Hahahaha. Do you have any idols in the Nigerian music industry?

Real B

Oh yea *keeps laughing*

Shayo Grass

Lol

Real B

Of course I do. Much respect goes out to the legendary 2face Idibia a.k.a “2baba” and my hommie Wande Coal; they are REAL fellas.

Shayo Grass

Why do you think so?

Real B

I respect their music, and of course we’ve clubbed together.

Shayo Grass

Oh cool! Should we expect an album soon?

Real B

In the studio I just keep doing songs, but I’m not dropping an album anytime soon. I believe getting to an “A-list” first, before my debut album drops.

Shayo Grass

We’re aware that one of your targets is to shoot beyond Africa, what ends do you wanna reach?

Real B

Funny enough, I’m already getting some recognition outside our environ; like in Ghana, South Africa, Scotland, e.t.c. I’ve always dreamt of being an international act, but I wanna proof that by making a big impact in our very own Nigerian music industry first. I don’t have ends to reach o; “if we see chance, we go blow reach heaven sef” *laughs*.

Shayo Grass

Hahhaa good point. So where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Real B

OMG!!! With that number of years, the sky’s gonna be my starting point. I see myself being celebrated all over; it should be a dream come true.

Shayo Grass

Wow, that’s VERY cool. what advice would you give to upcoming artists who are trying to break into the music industry?

Real B

Oh yea; Oluwa is involved.

Shayo Grass

Haha

Real B

Hold firm to your God and determination. Never give up, because every successful journey always have rough paths. Just keep doing your thing and Well; nobody can believe in you more than yourself.

Shayo Grass

Nice. Thank you so much for your time once again. You’ve been awesome.

Real B

You’re welcome and thanks. Like I said earlier, the pleasure’s mine.

Shayo Grass

:D

Real B

*smiles*. I wanna S/O 2 my fans ;)
