Yung6ix<\/strong>, who is seen and acknowledged by many as the best young rapper in the country with smashing singles such as “Picking Things<\/strong><\/em>” featuring Naeto C<\/strong><\/em>, “Follow Me<\/strong><\/em>” featuring Wizkid<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, and “Plenty Money<\/strong><\/em>” was spotted earlier on Monday, 30<\/strong>th July 2012<\/strong> in the studio with Choc Boy<\/strong><\/em> BrymO<\/strong>, recording a song for his upcoming debut album aptly titled “6ix’o Clock<\/strong><\/em>“. The two young musical icons who between them possess unquantifiable influence over a large majority of young people in Nigeria and beyond, shared drinks and jokes before trading bars and lyrics over a dope beat\/instrumental produced by upcoming producer “Drey<\/strong><\/em>” from Warri<\/a>. At the end of the session BrymO<\/strong> exclaimed, ‘this song is epic, sounds like Michael Jackson’s<\/a> “Liberian Girl<\/a>“<\/em>‘.<\/p>\n

Yung6ix was born Onome Onokokwomo on JULY <\/strong>8TH <\/strong>1989 in the heartland of Southern Nigeria<\/a>. Though born to the upper echelons of society, he embraced the streets of Warri, Delta State<\/a>, and was raised by music. Always a musically gifted mind, <\/strong>Yung6ix picked up the mic at a very young age. Studying the rap skills of the greatest eMCees<\/a>, he created a pattern of flow so uniquely distinct that they can never be replicated. He draws his inspiration from his surrounding, and also from diverse collection of genres. While in high school, and after a series of successful rap battles, Yung6ix hooked up with a duo of like minded artists, and\u00a0 a rap group “G-squad” was formed. The group went on to win a plethora of talent shows in and around Southern Nigeria while garnering an ever increasing fan base.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

After high school he directed his talents into pursuing a solo career and has recorded over 100 songs, not including numerous features, that got him recognition and the acronym “King of the South”. In the year <\/strong>2009, <\/strong>Yung6ix caught the attention of a renowned A&R\u00a0 \u201cGbemi Ereku\u201d who signed him almost immediately, He later put pen to paper [A JVA] with\u00a0 one of West Africa<\/a>‘s biggest entertainment company \u201cStorm 360\u201d in early <\/strong>2011. <\/strong>Yung6ix has consistently put in work on a national scale since then. He dropped his first mainstream single \u201c<\/strong>Follow Me\u201d featuring <\/strong>Wizkid in May <\/strong>2011; the song went on to introduce him to a broader audience and he immediately became raps new sensation. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

His second single \u201cOh My Gosh\u201d [OMG] was adjudged the most played Naija Hiphop song on Beat 99.9 FM\u00a0 and it’s video, the most played Nigerian Hiphop video on Urban Televison Station \u201cSoundCity\u201d over the last six months. <\/strong><\/em>Yung6ix released his debut mix-tape “Green Light Green” on December 26th 2011 and has gathered more than 50,000 downloads since its release; Yung6ix has continued to reach new heights, the latest, a massively accepted collaboration with M.I on “ILLEGAL MUSIC2” Where the Chocolate City rapper hailed him as the King Of The South, a moniker; <\/strong>Yung6ix has earned on the streets of Southern Nigeria more than 3 years ago way before he shot into national limelight. He recently released his 3rd Official single titled “Picking Things” where he featured one of Africa’s most revered eMCee, Naeto C. The song is doing amazingly well on radio, clubs and mainstream media all over Africa. He is highly sought after for shows; he appeals to a lot of young Nigerians<\/a> [especially teenagers] and has often been referred to as the Voice of the new generation. He has performed at Various concerts, shows and events to the amazement of fans who adore his stage craft.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The future knows no bounds for this Nigerian enigma. Already a role model to the next generation, <\/strong>Yung6ix plans to reach beyond the shores of Nigeria, and lead a worldwide revolution in music. He has been described as the next best thing in Africa Hiphop by all and sundry.
