Indigenous Yoruba crooner, Mayor Wete returns to the limelight with his exciting new single titled “Mawomi” – the first in over three years for the Ogun State native. Now signed on to Dozage Records, Mayor Wete is in flying form on “Mawomi” which is an outstanding indigenous Nigerian Pop song that is bound to get your head bopping, your feet moving and an 100% party starter for the clubs and dance floors in the coming months.

Meticulously mixed and mastered by Trybe Records’ Sheyman and superbly delivered by Mayor Wete – mostly in his trademark Yoruba dialect – over a catchy and infectious musical backdrop which is provided by Lala – who has also produced for the likes of the late great Da Grin, YQ and SABI – and led by lush drum patterns, bass guitar arrangements and trumpet injections, “Mawomi” is more than a triumphant return to form for the aboriginal Yoruba singer and songwriter. | ENJOY!!!

Born and raised in Ogun State, Nigeria, Mayor Wete [real name – Shobowale Mayowa Ayomide] is a fast-rising aboriginal Yoruba crooner and burgeoning fashion designer who first burst onto the scene in 2009 with his debut single “Wete”. Before his debut single, Mayor Wete started out as a Fuji artist in the streets of his hometown as far back as 1998 and has now evolved into an all-round exceptional singer and songwriter while still holding on to his originality and recording and performing in his native vernacular of Yoruba language.

Drawing his inspirations from God almighty as well as the likes of 9ice, Lagbaja and the late great Da Grin to mention a few – two pioneers of modern indigenous music, Mayor Wete is driven by his passion for music, for his environment and for his people as he aims to promote his own indigenous turf, culture and music to the International music landscape.

Having been making music for well over a decade and collaborated with some of Nigeria’s biggest stars including Pasuma Wonder, Modenine, Sound Sultan, Sheyman and Jay Slick, Mayor Wete returns to the limelight with a new single titled “Mawomi” to be released via Dozage Records as he gears up for his long awaited debut album due to be released in 2013.
