Listening to Ache’s strong and powerful voice will definitely give you goose bumps and leave you wondering how someone so small can have such a big voice; born Ache Rachael Sule, the very talented vocalist has been singing all her life, beginning at the church with her military father who was a drummer, her mom a lead vocalist and siblings who were also members of her church choir. Entertainment has always been part of her life.
Her journey into music was definitely not a rosy one, but hard work and determination helped carve a career path for her to get to where she is today; in Ache‘s words,
“After losing both parents, I was sitting and singing to myself one day and one of the people I stayed with who worked a hotel convinced me to sing at the hotels’ bar. I did a cover of Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love Of All”; I was 15 and writing my WAEC at this time.”
The club manager was impressed with her powerful voice that he enrolled her as one of the club band’s backup singers; because of her energy and enthusiasm, she was allowed to start singing solo and started scoring Whitney Houston, Anita Baker and Toni Braxton.
Having been an artiste professionally for 7 years, the 22 year old vocalist revealed that she has been managing her music career and band all by herself; according to her,
“I currently own a Live band called “Sound Of Music [SOM]“, also known as “Ache & The Sound Of Music“’; we have been together for 6 years. My band plays regularly at weddings and events including places like Troy, Sheraton, Federal Palace Hotel and Eko Hotel – we are the resident band for Lagos Boat Hotel.”
Despite her early mishap, she was determined to make something positive out of her life using her musical prowess as a stepping stone; still very active with her band, the Afro-Pop artiste got a Mass Communication degree from the University of Ife. In 2013, she debuted her official single, “African Lady”, a remix of our legendary Afro star, Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s “Lady and Baskoyegbe“. Few weeks ago, she dropped her 2nd single, “Na We Naija“; she isn’t signed to a record label yet but according to the songstress, plans have already been set in motion to sign her. Cutting across the different genres of music, Ache has a unique ability to switch her voice, from Afro-Pop to Hip-Pop and even classical music; however, she is focused more on Afro-Pop – here is a new single titled “Gimme Gimme“, listen up and share your thoughts. | ENJOY!!!
