Iconic Rap Queen, Blaise, is back, with wicked words for Orlando Julius’ classic, “Osika“; she returns to the music game as a rapper and music producer in classic style as she features the Legendary Orlando Julius in her double remake of his classic tune, “Osika Ranti,” producing and performing a Rap version in her inimitable fashion and throwing in a Dance version just for pure classic entertainment.

Osika,” a Yoruba word which means “the wicked” or “wicked person” is Blaise’s 1st release in 3 years; it’s a fusion piece of Hip-Hop/Rap, Afrobeat, Afro-Funk and Naija-Pop. Lyrically, Blaise leans more towards social consciousness and this track is not any different; she highlights certain current social circumstances and wraps around it a musical atmosphere which lightheartedly dilutes the intensity of the subject matter.

Both tracks are full of musical promise as she satisfies the thirst of her Rap fans with the Rap version and draws the interest of Dance music lovers with her Dance rendition.

Blaise is definitely back with double fire! Born Funke Martin-Luther in Lagos State, Nigeria, the sensational Rap diva made her debut into the industry as part of the popular Rap collective, Trybesmen, alongside eLDee, Freestyle, Dr. SID, Sasha P and 2shotz in 2002; her skills on the mic as a rapper have seen her work with Nigeria’s finest like M.I, ModeNine, IllBliss, Tha Suspect, Chidinma, Ice Prince, Muna, Jimmy Jatt, Cobhams, Bez and IBK to name a few; she has also worn the cap of judge in Rap battle competitions like The Sprite/Channel O MC Africa, DJ Jimmy Jatt’s Battlefield and Nokia’s Playlist Top5. She has been the voice of Nokia radio adverts on several occasions and her open-mic event, Baseline, which she initiated to create a platform for music talent in Nigeria is another landmark in her foray into music; also worthy of note, is her role as front-woman in 2011’s BET Rap Cypher, the very 1st in Nigeria with other female Rap talents like Eva Alordiah, Sasha P, Muna and Zee.

After a period of hiatus from the music industry, Blaise emerges in 2014 with a new title to append to her Rap status – music producer; bringing her composer/producer side out of the background to join forces with her Rap talent, the multi-instrumentalist and singer re-enters mainstream music as a performer under her label, BeatCellar Entertainment. | ENJOY!!!
