If going by their antecedence in 2012 is anything to write home about, some artistes deserve credit for the year thus far. A vote of confidence should be passed, their elbows greased with a pat on the shoulder and a big expectation in the New Year. Although it is expected that there would be a few surprises, a couple of new acts and shattered expectations from the regulars. Some acts have distinctively made 2012 a very interesting year, performed and bagged accolades both home and abroad. Our hope is that they keep the fire burning into the New Year. After all said, let me get straight to my point.

Iyanya ft. Emma Nyra - Ur Waist Artwork | AceWorldTeam.com

1. Iyanya: After a couple of love songs, this good boy went bad; traveled to South Africa, only to come back with a built and all tattooed body. He re-established himself as a winner. He dropped “Burst My Brain”, after which I knew there was more to him. Soon afterwards did he drop the monster hit, soon to become song of the year “Kukere”. This song rocked all parts of the country. It was an anthem for the young and old. He was soon to follow up with his “Ur Waist” single which was credible in the clubs and parties. These singles made him inevitable at shows, and his songs a must play for DJs at parties and clubs. Hardwork and consistency got this dude where he is today. Kudos bro, I just hope we haven’t heard the best off your forthcoming album.

9ice - GET IT [prod. by P-Blaze] Artwork | AceWorldTeam.com

2. 9ice: Mr. Abolore, Zion’s father is one man with immense street credibility. He has held his head up high since inception. His consistency has always stood him out. A very confident musician I must say. He carved his genre of music and stood by it. He’s the only Hip-hop act to have dropped 2 successful albums at once. “Versus” and “Bashorun Gaa” were albums released by the veteran at the same time and they both made commercial success. When 9ice announced sometimes this year that he was dropping another set of twin albums come next year, it did not hit me by surprise. “CNN” and “GRA” are the next set of albums to be looked forward to by Abolore Akande. I do hope we are not disappointed this time.

Chuddy K - Brazilian Hair [prod. by Spellz] Artwork | AceWorldTeam.com

3. Chuddy K: After going “Slow Slow”, this dude decided to go “Gaga Crazy”. Chuddy K‘s come back wasn’t anticipated, but it was well appreciated. The success of the monster hit “Kukere” by Iyanya did not stop his “Gaga Crazy” banger from hitting the tops. He re-established himself as a superb vocalist. Although I have my reservations for his “Gaga Crazy” video, but it made remarkable commercial success. His latest single titled “Brazillian Hair” although did not reach the heights of “Gaga Crazy” but it wasn’t a bad one either. A summation of these makes Chuddy K one of the acts to look forward to come 2013.

Banky W - YES_NO [prod. by Cobhams Asuquo] + GOOD GOOD LOVING [prod. by Spells] Artwork | AceWorldTeam.com

4. Banky W: The chairman of E.M.E hasn’t stopped doing what introduced him into the entertainment industry. Although rolling around with his flock of stars, I guess Mr. Capable still has the time to hit the studio. He delivers well when he does. He’s an R’n’B king. With his singles for 2012, we already know what to expect come February 14th, 2013, his album release date. His recent singles “Yes/No” and “Good Good Loving” tell good stories about the forthcoming album. I think Banky W is very capable.

Wande Coal | AceWorldTeam.com

5. Wande Coal: The black diamond of the Mavins has always kept us on our toes since inception. He’s unarguably one of the very best vocalists in the factory; his voice is deep. Whenever he drops a single, it shakes the social media world. His latest singles, “Private Trips”, “Go Low” and “Been Long You Saw Me” did not fall below expectation. We have always awaited his album, but I guess it’s the Don‘s decision. He’s an instant hit maker. A mentor to the 2 superstars – DavidO and Wizkid. He’s so unpredictable. There is no assurance that he’s going to drop an album come 2013, but you can be sure of monster singles.

Sarkodie - Illuminati Artwork

6. Sarkodie: This Ghanaian broke into the African market and made instant mark. He has earned himself African credibility; also bagged several award during the year. He is now in popular demand in Africa and beyond. He has featured and been featured on many songs including our own D’banj, DavidO and Dencia. A whole lot is expected from this young man come 2013.

Supersonic Blaze | AceWorldTeam.com

7. Supersonic Blaze: If you were in Dubai or conversant with happenings in Dubai in 2012, this name would mean a whole lot to you. This is a Nigerian born act that has taken the U.A.E by storm. He also won accolades in the Arab world and the UK. An international DJ-cum music producer; he has to his credit the monster hit “Ebeano” and “Ko Ti Faja”. He’s deeply rooted into the Nigerian culture. He also has to his credit the Nigerian Remix to the world famous “Gangnam Style. We look forward to see him around come 2013.

D'banj

8. D’banj: The bachelor, Mr. Oyato; his newly acclaimed self title has not disappointed his fans even after the defunct Mo Hits Records that saw him start up his label, D’banj Records. The endowed one although is yet to hit the heights of his Mo Hits days, but he is one of the few acts that have taken Nigeria music to the global market. He hasn’t stopped with the awards as he keeps the flag flying. D’banj is one of the few acts that will always raise the stakes and a lot is expected from. We look forward to an album from him come 2013 on which we do hope to see international acts.

SinzuSMG | AceWorldTeam.com

9. Sinzu: My man Sauce Kid, now known as Sinzu is one who has also remained undaunted in the face of crisis in the factory; he understands his craft. His “Carolina” single with DavidO and “Loko” featuring Timaya were his songs of 2012. He has impressed his rap fans. We all should look forward to a SINZU year come 2013.

WizKid_BB_4

10. Wizkid: Superstar Wizkid has been in vogue ever since his entrance with his “Holla At Your Boy” single. His consistency in the year has been second to none. He has reached the heights; with several international accolades and collaborations, he’s indeed a superstar. His enormous impact in the E.M.E All-Star album made it a success. He’s one act that now keeps the world on it’s toes. His vocals and style is second to none. He improves by the track. We look forward to a good 2013 for him considering the way 2012 went for him. I also look forward to his name change, considering the fact that he’s fast growing into a man.

Tiwa+Savage

11. Tiwa Savage: This female vocalist of Mavins is one who knows her onions. She got what it takes to be crowned Queen in 2013. Her sexy dance steps on stage is another selling point of hers. Although she did not make many headlines in 2012, she’s one person who obviously got a lot on her inside. We do hope Tiwa Savage comes alive powerfully in 2013.

Terry G - LOOSE CONTROL + CAN'T TRY ME Artwork | AceWorldTeam.com

12. Terry G: The ginger master remains the undisputed king of the dance floors. He got the magic wand. He gets better from the days of “Sangalo”. Terry G dropped several singles all year round and one cannot even tell if he’s got the intentions of an album. The consolation is the fact that, come next year, we expect to get our dance hall singles. Although being a victim of scandals, he has successfully lived above them. Kudos Terry Gabriel.

MODE NINE_Occupy The Throne Front

13. Mode Nine: The first line that struck me when I woke up this morning was “Modo is King”. Yes! This man is indeed king. Not the commercial rapper since inception, but has remained the un-displaced lyricist on the roll since forever. His mix-tape got him credit from his “die hard” fans. One just wish that Modo got more credit for his craft. His clan of followers always look forward to hear from him. Come 2013, we do hope Modo reminds us why he is indeed king.
